Qatar Shell has awarded a five-year contract to Hertel for scaffolding, insulation, painting and refractory (SIPR) services at the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) plant. The official contract signing ceremony, held at Qatar Shell’s offices in Doha, was attended by Mark Pattenden, vice president, Pearl GTL; and Nick Morgan, regional managing director, Hertel. Pattenden congratulated Hertel on their success, and said, “We look forward to the services provided by Hertel and are confident in their ability to deliver the contract safely and successfully to help ensure the proper maintenance of our plant.”
Morgan said, “We would like to thank all involved in the contract award. We see the contract as a major opportunity to strengthen our position here in Qatar and to develop our relationship with Shell and Qatar Petroleum on a global level.” Developed in partnership between Qatar Petroleum and Shell, Pearl GTL converts natural gas into a range of high-performing GTL products: From gasoil, kerosene and base oil to naphtha and normal paraffins for the petrochemicals industry. Pearl GTL is located in Ras Laffan Industrial City and made its first commercial shipment in June 2011. Shell is the largest international investor in Qatar having invested $21bn over the past decade. Picture shows Qatar Shell and Hertel executives at the contract signing.
