Vodafone Qatar is organising ‘Treasure Hunts’ in two major malls in Doha as part of the initiative to help parents keep their children safe in the digital world.
The activity, also aimed at encouraging parents to speak with their children about such issues, will take place at Gulf Mall from today to March 21 and at Hyatt Plaza Mall from January 26 to March 28 from 3pm to 10pm.
Treasure Hunts will involve a number of puzzles about the digital world that parents need to solve, in collaboration with their children, to win prizes.
Vodafone Qatar’s initiative comes under the banner of AmanTech, its aid programme for online child safety. Launched in May 2014, AmanTech, which stands for “safe tech world”, aims to promote digital literacy among parents and improve children’s digital safety.
“We aim to empower parents and to help them equip their children with the right tools and understanding to navigate the digital world safely and to take full advantage of its benefits,” Vodafone Qatar’s corporate social responsibility head Dana Haidan said.
Vodafone’s first Treasure Hunt, held at Ezdan Mall followed by Dahl El Hammam Park last year, saw thousands of families participating.
This year, AmanTech will continue to reach out to parents and children aged between the ages of 5 to 17.
The programme will adopt a three-pronged approach focusing on awareness, education and technical support. This will entail ongoing school parental workshops, an online source for information and tips for parents (www.vodafone.qa/AmanTECH), online magazines, in addition to digital parenting guide available online.
