The weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, yesterday took the necessary measures to issue a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 9 of 1979 on Documentation, after it was briefed about the Advisory Council’s recommendations on the draft law.
Under the provisions of the draft law, documentation shall be carried out by the director of administration, who will be assisted by a sufficient number of staff.
Taking into account the provisions contained in the conventions and treaties that govern the work of the members of the diplomatic and consular corps in Qatar’s embassies abroad, the Minister of Justice may issue a decision to delegate some people from among the non-management staff to do all or some of the documenter’s tasks.
Before assuming their job, everybody shall take the oath before the Minister of Justice to carry out their duties with honesty.
Following the Cabinet meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud said the Cabinet considered the topics tabled the agenda and took a set of decisions and measures.
The Cabinet approved a proposal by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to extend the regularisation deadline for the companies at the commercial register for a period of six months with effect from August 1, 2017, in accordance with the provisions of Law No 20 of 2014, amending some provisions of Law No 25 of 2005 on the commercial register.
Then, the Cabinet took the necessary measures for the ratification of the following:
1- The agreement between the governments of Qatar and India on the mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, private and official passports.
2- The protocol amending Marrakesh agreement establishing the World Trade Organisation (Trade Facilitation Agreement). The Cabinet also approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Turkmenistan, and a draft MoU for co-operation in the field of health between the governments of Qatar and Somalia.
The Cabinet agreed to host the annual 11th meeting of the GCC Accounting and Auditing Authority in Doha, during the third week of April 2017.
The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:
1- A draft law amending some provisions of Law No.(4) of 2008 on real estate leases.
2- The Advisory Council recommendations on doing business and selling through websites in the country, and the visuals of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in this regard.
