The Qatar International Boat Show 2016 (QIBS’16) was officially inaugurated with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the docks of Mourjan Marinas in Lusail City on Wednesday.

HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Commerce, officially opened the show on behalf of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
Boat enthusiasts and potential buyers can visit the venue until Saturday, December 10, from 2.30pm to 9.30pm.
Organisers said the QIBS’16 will be the biggest and most entertaining exhibition yet, with a spectacular collection of some of the world’s most advanced and in-demand models of boats and yachts on display. Additionally, spectators and businesses can expect a stellar lineup of international brands in nautical sports, supplies and accessories.
One of the principal highlights of the boat show this year is the Silver Fast yacht. Designed by Espen Oenio, the Silver Fast is an exceptional performance-driven vessel in the private yacht segment. This magnificent model retains the super-sleek contour and unique hull lines of its much-prized predecessors, while offering stunning new enhancements. At 77 metres (252.6ft) the Silver Fast has a top speed of close to 29 knots in optimal conditions, making it the world’s largest and fastest aluminum motor yachts.
“While traditionally serving as a lively platform for advancing Qatar’s booming tourism and leisure marine industries, QIBS’16, also operates as a forum to generate new contracts and to bolster Qatar’s economic diversification. These business objectives firmly align QIBS with the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030,” a statement issued by the organisers said.
Boat show visitors are encouraged to apply for their passes via www.qatarboatshow.com.qa, or follow QIBS16 (Facebook), QIBS16 (Instagram) and Qatar International Boat Show (YouTube), for the latest news from the Show. Pre-bookings for viewing specific brands and models on display is recommended in advance.
