The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) should study the possibility of air-conditioning bus stops across the country and make them more passenger friendly, with special focus on safety and security requirements, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) urged.

At its regular bi-weekly session, the CMC recommended that the MoTC should conduct a study to dedicate special lanes for public transport buses to ease their movement on the road and avoid any delays.
The council further stressed the crucial importance of public transportation in the county in easing congestion and reducing the levels of air pollution.
The CMC also issued a number of recommendations on the need to assign more land plots for agriculture farms to boost the production of the sector. The council stressed that each farm should be of at least 5,000sqm, as those of the animal farm complexes.
The CMC requested that these farms should have easily accessible roads and services to increase the chance of their success. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) should assign willing nationals the required plots of lands to develop them under its supervision and assistant, such as selecting the suitable types of crops, and giving farmers the necessary technical guidance and support.
Other issued raised by the council included the need to be more decisive regarding enforcing the regulation of banning labour accommodations among family residential areas, as housing great numbers of unskilled labourers in such areas could cause inconvenience to the families.
The CMC further discussed the recent hike in prices of a number of fish varieties including Hamour. The council said that more is needed to be done by the departments concerned to tighten control on the local market in this respect and curb such surge in prices.
Regarding Shafaf LPG Cylinder, CMC member Sheikha al-Jufairi pointed out that many residents of her constituency approached her complaining that replacing the metal cylinder is very expensive. The exchange price for the old iron cylinder is only QR100, while it was originally bought at more than QR200. "In addition, the price of a Shafaf cylinder is high at QR365. Customers replacing their iron cylinders with Shafaf should pay only a marginal fee," she demanded.
