The 2016 edition of the Pinoy Fiesta, organised by LuLu Hypermarket Group, got under way yesterday. The festival will continue until November 5.
The fiesta was opened by Philippine ambassador Wilfredo Santos at LuLu Hypermarket, D-Ring Road, in the presence of  Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International, and several other LuLu officials and dignitaries as well as senior executives from leading organisations in the retail industry.
Through the festival, the group “endeavoured to celebrate the culinary heritage and food habits in the Philippines, as well as to highlight and promote the best-quality Filipino food products and agricultural produce among the local community”, it said in a press statement.
“Extensive promotion campaigns and price-buster offers” have been planned on a number of imported items in association with brands including Mama Sita’s, Ligo, Del Monte, CDO, Lucky Me, Selecta, and UFC Century.
In terms of agricultural produce from the Philippines, large stocks of langsat, white onion, curly parsley, Philippine mango, garlic, morning glory leaves, bean sprout, paksoi, baby paksoi, saba, calamansi, guyabano, mangosteen (wild), jicamas, dragon fruit, durian, pomelo, papaya, tanglad, kamote (white and violet), kamias, ube, rambutan, pandan leaves, pineapple, banana, senorita banana, sweet corn and hass avocado will be available throughout the festival period.
A raffle draw has been organised for customers who buy any of the offered items for QR25. The participants are entitled to win 15 “to and fro” air tickets for the Manila sector.
