Doha Municipality has issued six decisions to close different food establishments for violating food safety regulations.
The decisions were issued by municipality director Jamal Matar al-Nuaimi.
The closure period ranged from seven to 60 days. The violations included sale of foodstuff that was unfit for consumption as well as expired products, according to a press statement.
The outlets in question are a cafeteria in the Industrial Area, a grocery and restaurant in Bin Omran, a supermarket in Mamoura, catering establishments in Nuaija and a cafeteria in the Old Airport area.
Inspectors from the Health Control Section in the Municipal Control Department enforced the closure decisions.
Meanwhile, the rain emergency services team from the Municipal Affairs Department at Al Rayyan Municipality is making preparations for the rainy season by cleaning manholes and checking the drainage system.

The Beaches and Islands Section at the General Cleanliness Department, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, conducted a cleanup campaign at a number of beaches and ports in the country, including the Corniche, Doha navigation port and Wakrah port. Waste was removed from these places as part of the operation.
In another development, the Health Control Section at Al Daayen Municipality found frozen chicken and fruits/vegetables being transported in two vehicles that did not have the necessary equipment and cooling facilities. Besides, shops were made to sign an affidavit that they would not receive any food products transported on such vehicles.
Al Rayyan Municipality conducted a number of inspection campaigns in August, which resulted in 52 violations for building and digging works. Twenty-nine of these were resolved through reconciliation with the violators, while three were removed. Revenue collected as fines for such violations amounted to QR128,108.
Al Shamal Municipality conducted a cleanup campaign covering abandoned houses in areas within its jurisdiction. The houses were cleared of waste during the initiative.
Al Khor Municipality carried out a pest and rodent control campaign in a dumping yard.
