The Court of Appeal is hearing a case in which a physician at a well-known hospital is accused of causing the death of a Qatari woman, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The woman had suffered acute arterial bleeding following a surgery, the daily said.
The Public Prosecution had formed a special committee to review medical reports in the case and determine the cause of death. Also reviewed were the reports of an independent committee that probed the case and how it was handled by the doctors in charge at the time of the incident.
Both reports affirmed that the treatment team had committed medical errors that led to the woman’s death, according to the daily. The reports also stressed that such errors and negligence could be avoided had there been effective emergency management and response.
The woman died in the operation room after suffering from acute internal bleeding pursuant to a surgery performed on her.
