The ongoing events of the “Have Fun & Learn 2” summer programme in Al Khor will continue until September 8.
The initiative, organised by Qatar Charity’s (QC) Community Development Centre – Al Khor men’s branch under the slogan “Enjoy Better Summer with Us”, was launched on
July 16.
The second edition of the programme targets more than 100 students from primary and preparatory levels and is supervised by qualified
teachers.
The summer programme includes various educational, cultural and artistic activities. In addition, a sports championship, multiple trips, meetings and competitions will be held throughout the
programme.
The sports activities include football, swimming, archery, horse-riding and electronic games. Arts activities include workshops for handmade objects and drawing classes (paper, glass and wood). Besides, there will be workshops on Arabic calligraphy.
Al Khor Educational Centre, the organiser of these workshops, has lined up attractive prizes for distinguished
students.
Khamis al-Mureikhi, director of QC’s Community Development Centre in Al Khor, said, “During the summer vacation, we try to focus more on our students so as to invest their free time in useful and entertaining activities. Such activities help reinforce values and improve mental and kinetic skills. We also encourage parents in Al Khor to make use of such summer
activities.”
Al-Mureikhi explained how the activities include memorising Surah Ar-Rahman and An-Nazi’at, multiple hadiths and joining memorisation competitions, holding voluntary activities to serve the community, visiting important places in Qatar such as the Museum of Islamic Art and media outlets, and attending sessions in Al Khor and Doha. “This year’s edition has room for more students than last year’s,” he
added.
He thanked all the entities who helped the centre in holding the events successfully. “I thank the Al Khor Cultural Centre, Al Khor Club, Qatar Red Crescent Society and Abdullah Al Musnad Preparatory and Secondary Schools.”
Anybody can join the centre’s programmes, including summer ones, by calling 5001 4572.
Other community centres that are part of QC will soon inaugurate a number of programmes and summer camps for students (male and female separately) across the country.
