Reach Out To Asia (Rota), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has announced its Ramadan 2016 Project, ‘10 Years of Service’, which will include activities that support construction workers, the elderly, and other local groups in Qatar.
The Rota Ramadan 2016 Project will feature a series of volunteer-led activities to contribute to community development in Qatar. To effectively implement the campaign, Rota will collaborate with a number of local partners, including the Social Development Centre, Hamad Medical Corporation, the Qatar Autism Centre & Special Needs and the Bangladesh MHM School & College.
Volunteers will share Iftar with residents of the Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care and the Rumailah Hospital Residential Care Community. Rota will also co-ordinate similar events for construction workers of the Al Shamal and Al Khor municipalities.
Mohammed al-Naama, acting executive director, Rota, said, “This year we look forward to giving back to the community in Qatar. Teams of ROTA volunteers will, once again, reach out to various groups to make a positive and tangible impact in their lives. Through their service, they will continue to demonstrate the true value of volunteerism in society, which is a great source of pride for us here at Rota.”
Stephen Kelly, president and general manager of Occidental Petroleum of Qatar (Oxy Qatar), said: “Oxy Qatar is honoured to support Rota’s annual Ramadan Project, as it is an important part of our corporate social responsibility programme. Oxy Qatar has been working with Rota for the past five years, during which time we have seen the Ramadan Project grow and achieve impressive results. Our employees have also been part of the volunteer programme, with new participants signing up every year.”
Earlier this month, Rota offered volunteers the opportunity to join the Ramadan 2016 Project through the recently-launched ‘TAMM Qatar Volunteer Network’. Numerous members of the community attended the volunteer registration event to learn about the initiative and sign up for specific activities.
