Al Khaliji Commercial Bank (Al Khaliji), along with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), hosted Tajer, a financial market’s literacy and education workshop for secondary school students.
The initiative is in the framework of the bank’s recruitment programme and its efforts to empower Qatari youth as well as develop their skills to lead the country’s financial industry in the future.
The day-long workshop offered students a comprehensive understanding and in-depth insights about financial markets in Qatar. Through its educational training which combines case studies with on-the-ground applications, the workshop offers a mechanism that enables attendees to gain valuable knowledge and information about floor trading systems around the world as well as introducing them to electronic markets by connecting them to cross-border networks.
The workshop also allows students to be updated on the constant changes occurring on a daily basis in financial markets’ pricing and trading processes, as well as providing them with an opportunity to discover a number of Carnegie Mellon’s business administration programmes, in addition to offering them facetime with faculty members and decision makers in the financial industry.
This workshop marks one of many joint efforts between Al Khaliji and CMU-Q to empower students and provide them with everything they need in terms of knowledge and skill sets to facilitate their transition from academic to professional life. In November 2015, the bank hosted a workshop on Qatar’s banking and finance sector at CMU-Q.
