The Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, represented by the public relations department, has won the first place in the awareness film competition 2015, organised by the General Secretariat of Arab Interior
Ministers Council.
The theme was “Speed and its role in traffic accidents”. The award was announced in the 39th Conference of Arab Police and security chiefs held in Tunis.
Dr Mohamed bin Ali Kouman, secretary general of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, awarded the prize to Brigadier Rashid Shaheen al-Atieq, director, control and inspection department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The award highlights the efforts of the MoI to raise the awareness of the community.
MoI’s public relations department director Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah said that the achievement underscored the success of the ministry in presenting distinct security awareness in all aspects of the society.
The MoI won a special traffic safety film award in 2001, film award on drug awareness in 2002, third places in the UN International traffic awareness fest in 2003 and the first international traffic awareness festival in 2005, first place in the security media contest conducted by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in 2006, and in the International Festival for the prevention of road accidents wherein 47
countries participated in 2010.
In 2012, the ministry added a new accomplishment in the field of awareness film competition by the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, winning for the eighth time in a row the first place through a film on the fight against human
trafficking.
