ExxonMobil Qatar’s subject-matter experts recently held six courses under its Tamayoz training programme.
Subject areas covered during the courses included technical (surface and subsurface), project management, and leadership and personal effectiveness. More than 80 individuals have been trained during May.
The Tamayoz initiative was launched in 2012 to share ExxonMobil’s technical, commercial and operational expertise with partners and individuals in Qatar’s energy industry.
“The Tamayoz training programme provides tailor-made courses to support Qatar’s national workforce development and the success of our colleagues and partners in the energy sector,” said Alistair Routledge, president and general manager of ExxonMobil Qatar.
The Geoscience Concepts for Engineers and Scientists course, covering the technical (surface and subsurface) subject area, provided participants with a background on geologic time and the earth’s structure and compositions, in addition to diagenetic processes. The course is designed for individuals who are involved in any aspect of reservoir management or who require a basic geoscience background in their jobs.
The Fundamentals of Cost and Scheduling Engineering course, designed for individuals working with capital projects, helped participants gain a better understanding of cost engineering, cost data, scheduling and project controls.
The recent courses also included three consecutive leadership and personal effectiveness courses: Finance for Non-financial Professionals, Technical/Commercial Leadership Fundamentals and Fundamentals of Communication.
All three courses focused on increasing participants’ understanding of self and developing leadership skills so as to help them be better prepared in their roles and improve their ability to influence.
“I am very pleased to have taken part in the Fundamentals of Communication course because of the relevance of the content to my work. Communication is critical to my position as senior supervisor and in the energy sector as a whole,” said Hilal Saad H A al-Mohannadi, senior supervisor at RasGas.
The recent Tamayoz training courses concluded with the Machinery Principles and Applications course, which is specifically targeted at engineers new to groups that have responsibilities for supporting the operation of machinery.
The Tamayoz training programme provides professional and personal development opportunities for valued partner Qatar Petroleum and joint ventures RasGas and Qatargas. The training programme covers six critical competency areas: leadership and personal effectiveness, project management, commercial, operations excellence, technical (surface and subsurface), and safety, health and the environment.
More than 120 courses have been offered to ExxonMobil partners free of charge with nearly 1,700 individuals receiving training since the programme’s inception.
