HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani with Saudi Arabia’s Second Deputy Premier Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz al-Saud in Doha yesterday.

Several Arab leaders arrived in Doha yesterday to congratulate HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

Congratulatory messages also continued to pour in from world leaders for HH the Emir and HH the Father Emir.

Among the leaders who met the Emir yesterday were Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Jordan’s King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia’s Second Deputy Premier Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah as well as the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifah and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

The Emir received congratulations from President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al-Maktoum on assuming the reins of power in Qatar.

The congratulations were conveyed by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan during a meeting with Emir at the Emiri Diwan.  

HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani also received congratulations from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence in the Kingdom Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.

The congratulations were conveyed by Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Adviser and Special Envoy to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, during his meeting with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan.

 US Secretary of State John Kerry, travelling in the region, too extended his greetings.

A US official accompanying Kerry on his visit yesterday to Kuwait said the top US diplomat had called Sheikh Tamim and voiced hope for further co-operation with the increasingly active nation.

Kerry said “he looks forward to working with Sheikh Tamim as our two countries promote regional and global stability, prosperity and progress,” the official said.  

“He reaffirmed that the United States will continue to stand by Qatar as a valued partner,” he said.

The Emir received congratulatory phone calls from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia, President Abdullah Gul of Turkey, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

HH the Father Emir also received telephone calls from King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia, President Abdullah Gul of Turkey, President Mohamed Mursi of Egypt, President Mohamed Moncef Marzouki of Tunisia, Najib Mikati, head of caretaker government of Lebanon, Khalid Mishal, Hamas Politburo Chief, and US Secretary of State John Kerry.
