Al Gharafa thrashed Qatar Sports Club 103-62 while Al Sadd prevailed over Al Arabi 78-67 in the men’s Qatar Basketball League at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall yesterday.
Mohamed Abdulrahman was the hero for Al Gharafa with 25 points, which included four three-pointers from five attempts, while Dwayne Galloway and Osaro Adako scored 21 and 17 points respectively.
So Dominant were Al Gharafa that they led 42-25 at the end of the second quarter and 73-41 after the third, at which point QSC virtually gave up hope of putting up a fight. For QSC, Anthony Malcolm scored 20 points, while Abdulrahman Jama had 14.
In the second match of the day, Michael Brandon scored 19 points, while Abdulrahman Ali had 17 as Al Sadd began their title campaign with a comfortable win.
Al Sadd led 25-12 at the end of the first quarter, 46-24 after the second and 62-41 after the third before eventually closing out the game. Suliman Abdi and Mustafa Fouda also excelled for the winners with 16 and 14 points respectively.
For Al Arabi, Todd O’Brien was the top scorer with 26 points, while Temi Soyebo had 21. Unfortunately, none of the other players could manage double figure  scores as Al Arabi went down.
Today, El Jaish meet Al Ahli at 5pm followed by a match between Al Rayyan and Al Khor at 7pm.
