The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has returned to the SportAccord Convention as a Silver Partner. The QOC delegation have arrived in Sochi, Russia for the 2015 edition of the annual World Sport and Business Summit, which is taking place at the Sochi ExpoCentre from 19-24 April 2015.
The SportAccord Convention World Sport and Business Summit is a 6-day annual gathering of leading representatives from international sport. It aims to bring together rights holders, organising committees, cities, businesses and other organisations in the development of sport.
The event features a 3-day conference, dynamic exhibition, LawAccord, City Forum, MediaAccord, the SportAccord Convention Village and Sports Demo Zone, as well as hosting the SportAccord Sports Awards, and the annual general meetings of governing bodies of world sport.
Nis Hatt, Managing Director, SportAccord Convention commented: “We are delighted to have Qatar Olympic Committee taking part in the SportAccord Convention. Their return as a Silver Partner, reinforces the value seen by governing sports bodies and federations, and we are sure the QOC and all sports organisations will further benefit from the opportunities gained, as the Convention grows in stature to the World Sport & Business Summit.”
As part of their partnership, the QOC have a stand in the main exhibition hall. This will enable them to promote Qatar’s busy national and international sporting calendar, which over the next year includes a total of 89 events, 55 of which are international events. Highlights include the World Boxing Championships and IPC Athletics World Championships, which are both taking place in Doha in October 2015.
The Convention also provides an opportunity for the QOC to engage with business leaders from across over 25 industry sectors, including more than 100 international sports federations and organisations, in order to discuss the important issues in the field of sport and how the QOC can best make contributions to specific areas. The QOC will aim to learn and to share knowledge and best practices in order to optimise their contribution to international sport development.
