Ooredoo has today congratulated the Ooredoo employees who took part in the 2015 edition of the Women’s GOAL Sports Tournament, which saw a record-breaking number of female employees participate.
This is the second Women’s GOAL Tournament, which is a teambuilding exercise for Ooredoo employees. In total, 105 female players from across the company took part in activities such as volleyball, shooting, table-tennis and table-football.
As well as the matches, the company organised a dedicated children’s zone, which saw more than 130 children take part in sporting activity during the Women’s Tournament.
In the closing ceremony, medals were presented to the winners by Ahlam Salem M al-Mana, President of Qatar Woman’s Sport Committee (QWSC) and Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, Chairman of the GOAL Committee.
Ahlam Salem M al-Mana, said: “This is the first time I have attended a women’s sports event organised by a company, rather than sporting organisation. Ooredoo is to be congratulated for taking a proactive approach to employees’ health and fitness.”
Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo said: “We launched the women’s GOAL tournament as we believed that our female employees should also get the chance to represent their departments and have some fun. All of the women who took part in the event were amazing, and we couldn’t wish for a better turnout. This event encourages healthy living and exercise for the whole family, and has been a significant success in 2015.”
The female tournament took place at Qatar Sports Club. Highlights included a nail-biting final volleyball match between New Line of Business and Finance, as well as a skilled final shoot off.
