Qatar national team players, Moussa and Mubarak Shanan, moved into the second round of doubles at the 2nd Qatar ITF Futures.
Moussa has partnered with Great Britain’s Oliver Golding this week and the pair defeated the Slovakian duo of Ivo Klec and Marek Semjan, 6-3, 3-6, 10-3, in the first round.
Meanwhile, Mubarak paired up with China’s Zhang Zhou to defeat Qatar’s Ali al-Sayegh and Sri Lanka’s Nishan Nadarja 6-1, 6-2 in the first round.
The two teams will now face each other in the second round.
“I am so happy with this win. It was not easy but my partner, Oliver, and I worked well together which helped us get through this round,” Moussa said of his first round win.
“I am looking forward to achieving better results this week as I was not very lucky last week when my partner had to withdraw.”
Moussa spoke about the difficulty in gaining more ATP World Tour ranking points in doubles – as two match wins are needed to gain one ranking point.

Mubarak’s first ATP point
Talking of points, Mubarak gained entry into the ATP World Tour rankings by winning his first ranking point.
He won his first point by defeating countryman, Ali al-Sayegh, 6-0 6-2 in the singles first round.
Mubarak next faces Swiss eighth seed Adrien Bossel.
The Qatari player said that it is a great motivation for him to play hard and establish himself among the elite players.
The 2nd Qatar ITF Futures started on Monday and will conclude on Saturday at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.
