The Qatar Stars League recently sent a delegation to the Asian Football Confederation’s headquarter in Malaysia on a fact-finding mission. |
The party travelled to Kuala Lumpur last week for the trip which was aimed at fostering relationships and sharing knowledge with the governing body of Asian football.
Headed by Abdulrahman al-Dosari, chief of commercial for QSL, the delegation used the working trip to study the different departments and programmes operated by the AFC in order to continue the progression of the QSL.
The trip was also used to inform the AFC of the greatest achievements of the QSL till date. The AFC also used the opportunity to show a film about the greatest achievements the organisation has enjoyed since its inception in 1954.
Accompanying al-Dosari were Ahmed al-Adsani from football and competitions, Miguel Heitor, acting head of football operations, Yousef al-Hammadi, Arabic media supervisor, and Fay-Louise Smith, international media supervisor.
Reflecting on the expedition, Abdulrahman al-Dosari said, “We must thank the AFC for their warm welcome in Malaysia. We are extremely grateful for the reception our delegation received during the trip. It’s important to open the doors of co-operation to allow football in Qatar to keep developing.
“During the visit we discussed how to take advantage of the expertise and programmes offered by the AFC. They do so much relating to social responsibility and community-based programmes. We have always been pro-active on these matters but it is important to find out about the policies in the Asian continent."
After hosting the QSL delegation, Alex Soosay, secretary general of AFC, said: “We were pleased to welcome the QSL and wish them success in their mission. We hope they can achieve their goals.
“The league has evolved significantly over the past few years, led by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani.
“Qatar proved they were capable of hosting a big tournament in 2011 when they held the Asian Cup in 2011. This was an important event which proved Doha was ready for big tournaments.”
