El Jaish beat Al Kharatiyat 2-1 to temporarily displace Lekhwiya form the second spot on the Qatar Stars League table yesterday, while Al Sailiya and Al Khor played out a 1-1 draw . Adriano and Wagner scored for Jaish while Mohamed Abdulrub oulled one back for the losers.
El Jaish now have 40 points from 20 matches, but Lekhwiya can reclaim their position with a win over Al Arabi today as the QSL heads into its final straight.
But if Lekwhiya are beaten by Al Arabi, Al Sadd can claim the title today itself if they put in past Al Gharafa.
Al Sadd are sitting pretty with 44 points from 19 matches as they chase their 13th league title. However, Hussein Amotta’s men would be hoping that Al Arabi do them a favour by beating Lekhwiya in today’s crunch clash.
In another match today, Al Rayyan take on Al Wakrah. Rayyan are fourth on the table with 33 points while Al Wakrah are 10th in the 12-team tournament.
