POLICE have busted a gang engaged in making and selling of alcoholic drinks and arrested two Asians, who are the prime accused in the case, from the Dafna area.
Crime Prevention Department Assistant Director Major Manahi Khaled al-Hajiri said the bootlegging operation was busted following a tip-off.
The two culprits were using a building under construction in the Dafna area to brew and bottle the liquor, a release issued by the Interior Ministry said yesterday.
Some barrels containing hooch and a large number of bottles were seized from the site.
In another case, an Arab national and his accomplice were arrested after they were found cheating people, promising them promotions in jobs, using black magic.
The Crime Prevention Department said its sleuths laid a trap and took the culprits into custody red-handed after a complaint was received about the fraudulent operations of the duo.
The ‘magicians’ have confessed that they have been cheating their victims by making them believe that they can improve their ‘image’ in the eyes of their bosses, the department said.
Among the items seized from the sorcerers were talisman, amulets, indecipherable writings, booklets on magic and different types of oils, Major al-Hajiri said.
The two have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
