CARNEGIE Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ) has established Connections, a programme that facilitates the internship process by ensuring that the right students are matched with the right companies.
Connections offers CMUQ’s 91 students coming from Qatar, India, Syria, Egypt and Jordan with temporary work placements and the opportunity to combine theory with work experience in a professional environment.
Employers participating in the programme benefit from the students’ creative problem solving skills and up-to-date theories, along with their endless supply of innovative thinking.
Companies that already have participated in Connections include ConocoPhillips, Speciality Teaching Hospital, Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Telecom. Other companies that have been inspired and are now establishing their own programmes include HSBC, RasGas, General Electric, Qatar Computer Emergency Response Team and Four Seasons hotel.
CMUQ is continuing to talk to more companies about developing their internship programmes and its prospects are on the increase. |
