Pakistani schools fare well in HSSC-II exams

PAKISTANI schools have fared well in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Part-II (HSSC-II) examinations conducted by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad, in May-June 2005. The Board announced the results yesterday.

Pak Shama School (PSS) and Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) secured overall pass percentages of 97 and 88, respectively.

Of the 120 PEC students who sat the exams, 101 passed. Shahbaz Hussain (Pre-Engineering) with 909 marks was the top scorer.

The group-wise pass percentage for Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Science General and Humanities is 90.32, 100, 70 and 88.23, respectively.

A total of 56 PEC students passed in first division. Three students were placed in A1 grade, 20 in A and 24 in B.

The first three positions in the school went to Pre-Engineering students: Shahbaz Hussain, 909 marks (A1 grade), Mahreen Shahid, 880 (A1) and Tehseen Shahid, 878 (A).

The toppers in other groups are: Pre-Medical:  Khadija Batool, and Hira Mehmood, both 875 (A), Farah Safdar 872 (A), and Asma Nawaz 865 (A). Science General Group: Sarah Azhar, 833 (A), Kiran, 803 (A), and Mudassar Anjum, 772 (A).

Humanities: Samreen Zahra, 794 (A), Sana Awan, 764 (B), Saima and Nabila, both 715 (B).

Acting principal Amanullah Khan has congratulated the successful students and lauded the role of teachers and parents in their performance.

Khan thanked Imran Yawar, charge d’affaires at the Pakistan embassy who is also chairman of the PEC board of governors, for his support and guidance.

Pak Shama School students registered 100% pass in the Pre-Engineering and Commerce streams. The pass percentage for the Pre-Medical and  Humanities groups were 80 and 85, respectively.

Girls secured the top five positions in PSS. Alia (pre-medical) was the top scorer with 833 out of 1,100 marks. Sumaiya Muftakhar (pre-medical) and Neelam Hyder (General Science) shared the second position with 817 marks.

The following  students secured distinctions:   General Science - girls: Faiza (792 marks), Zainab Nawaz (771), Amna Zubair (714), Fouzia (713). Pre-Medical – girls: Sana (748). Humanities: Humaira Safeer (691), Mariam Kurshid (690), Mohamed Ishtiaq (615). Commerce – boys: Attiq ur Rehman (740), Israr Ahmed (633). Pre-Engineering: Ahmed Raza (689), Mohamed Sohaib Ashraf (673), Mohamed Irfan (651), Mohamed Zaman (650), Nadia (642) and Hena Shabbir (622).

Congratulating the successful students, Nabila Kaukab, controller of the school’s academic and general affairs department, said she hoped they will perform even better in future.

M A Shahid, president of the PSS managing committee expressed his happiness over the results and thanked teachers, parents and students for their hard work and dedication.
