Jamaican and US sprint teams are set to face off at next month’s athletics meet in Zurich, with the teams led by Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay lining up to challenge world records, organisers said yesterday.
“The Usain Bolt-anchored Jamaican team with Mario Forsythe, Yohan Blake, and Marvin Anderson will be facing a US team who will set out to write relay history,” said organisers of the August 12 IAAF Diamond League meet.
Gay will spearhead a US team that is also due to feature Wallace Spearmon and Walter Dix, all of whom are 200m specialists. Trell Kimmons, who had led the US junior team to a world record in recent years, will run the first baton.
Besides the relay, Jamaicans and Americans are also set to clash in the individual races.
Jamaica’s Campbell-Brown will challenge US sprint star Carmelita Jeter in the women’s 100m.
