A strong 6.0-magnitude quake hit south of the southern Philippine island of Mindanao early today, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake struck at 2:10am (1810 GMT) and was centred 161km east-southeast of the Mindanao city of General Santos at a depth of 74km, the USGS said. The Hong Kong Observatory estimated the earthquake at 6.0 on the Richter scale. The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not issue any tsunami warning. |
