The fifth annual conference of Foundation Fieldbus End Users Council – Middle East (FFEUC-ME) ‘Multaqa 2009’ will be held on December 15-16 at the Ramada, it was announced yesterday. Foundation Fieldbus is the world’s leading digital system technology introduced for automation in large petrochemical, oil and gas, chemical, fertiliser, power and other major industries. “The evolution of this technology since the last few years provided the major change in cost effective design, optimised maintenance and improved plant performance,” said Multaqa organising committee chairman and FFEUC-ME vice chairman Nilangshu Dey. Qatar Petroleum implemented this technology first in Qatar in 2004 at their LPG storage and loading plant at Mesaieed, followed by the offshore platforms production station 2 and 3, Qatargas, and some other operating companies in the country. “The conference will be attended by officials from oil and gas, petrochemical, fertilisers, chemicals, power and other operating companies of GCC countries, apart from control system manufacturers, global consultants and automation contractors,” Dey explained. The instrumentation and control engineers and managers of 12 oil and gas and petrochemical companies of Qatar, 22 petrochemical companies from Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai, Yemen, and 15 automation vendors and six contractors are among the more than 175 delegates. Fifteen Fieldbus global vendors are participating in an exhibition being held as part of the conference to showcase their latest developments and applications to relevant oil and gas and petrochemical industries. |
