Time ripe to set up business in Qatar: diplomat |
Minister at Indian embassy (Political) Sanjiv Kohli has appealed to entrepreneurs to turn the present global economic downturn to their advantage for creating more opportunities in Qatar. Kohli said this while inaugurating the 8th anniversary of Quality Group of Companies on Thursday evening at Doha Cinema. The embassy official said the atmosphere in the region, in particular in Qatar, is conducive for exploring opportunities to set up businesses and thus providing more employment opportunities to skilled and unskilled personnel. The diplomat hailed the group for organising a meeting of this kind for its workers. First secretary of Nepal embassy Ram Kaji Khadka said Qatar has turned out to be the largest job provider for his Nepalese compatriots in the last three to four years. He complimented the group’s officials for providing a large number of opportunities to Nepalese nationals. Speaking earlier, the group’s managing director Shamsudheen Olakara said it was because of “extremely good business environs” prevailing in Qatar that his group could grow from just two workers in 2001 to more than 750 now. CEO of Doha Bank R Seetharaman was the guest of honour. Qatari businessmen Abdulla al-Amudi and Ebrahim Abdulla M H al-Malki graced the function. A variety of entertainment programmes added colour to the function. Among the highlights were a music concert and magic show by Jayan Orma. Television anchor from Kerala Ananda Narayanan compered the programme. |
