Ramesh Mathew Mowasalat’s Karwa training centre has received ISO 9001:2008 certification. Giving this information yesterday, company officials said the latest honour is in appreciation of the services being rendered by the company to deliver high quality standards in driving and also in promoting defensive driving, and helping to reduce road accidents in a big way. They said the recognition followed a thorough quality certification process by Bureau Veritas, a widely acclaimed certification body. “It was after a thorough quality audit and extensive observation of day-today affairs at the training centre that it has been awarded the latest honour,” said Mowasalat’s Director of Business Development Ahmed al-Ansari. “The safety standards being maintained by the company and the classes handled by our instructors were also subjected to well-qualified tests before the centre being awarded the latest certification,” said al-Ansari. Speaking later, Deputy executive and financial director Waleed Raslan al-Abdullah said the company’s training centre underwent severe tests before attaining the latest standards. “So many factors, including the quality of classes catered to by its instructors were taken into consideration before being awarded the ISO 9001:2008,” said Raslan al-Abdullah. Training and technical manager Robert Makando said the latest certification has qualified Karwa training centre as the first and only driving school of the country to achieve the system certification as per the latest ISO standards. To a question on certification, Makando said apart from the expertise imparted by trainers at the driving school, many other factors were taken into consideration before certifying the school with the latest honour. “Among them is the quality maintained by trainers on the road and the systems adopted by the centre to reduce and prevent accidents among the new learners,” he said. Makando said the certification is part of a process to implementing global standards in driving across the region, through updating the skills of drivers. “The latest certification is a validation of our efforts to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers,” he said. Mowasalat acting Administration Manager Saeed Wassim al-Hajri, Bureau Veritas officials chief executive Magdi El-Nawawi, and quality and system certification manager Maher Cheikrouhou were among others present at the meet. |
