The new 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which has undergone the first full model change in seven years, will be launched by Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros (AAB) Company today at an event at Al Dana Club.
“The new Prado, suited to both urban and off-road conditions, is loaded with lots of features, including many world firsts,” AAB general manager Dr Mohamed A al-Dorani said yesterday.
Describing Prado as the second hottest selling SUV in Qatar after Land Cruiser, he said three engine options are available for the new Prado, 2.7 litre and 4 litre petrol engines as well as a 3 litre diesel engine. “The features include the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, Multi Terrain Monitor, Multi Terrain Select, Multi Terrain ABS, and Crawl Control,” Dr al-Dorani said.
Makoto Arimoto, Toyota Motor Corporation’s chief engineer in charge of the Land Cruiser Prado, said the fourth generation model maintains the “outstanding drivability, reliability and basic functionality even under the harshest driving conditions while enhancing the on-road and off-road driving performance and comfort.”
The new Land Cruiser Prado inherits full-time four-wheel drive with a Torsen Limited Slip Differential transfer case. The rigidity of the frame and body was enhanced and the characteristics of the suspension springs and shock absorbers were optimised.
Interior comfort has been enhanced with second-row seats featuring independent 135mm slide and walk-in accessibility functions to facilitate easy access for the third-row seats. For enhanced convenience and utility, the world’s first power 50:50 split seat storage function was also adopted.
AAB’s Toyota sales manager Hisham Ismail said the price of the 2.7 litre, four-cylinder five-door Prado is QR118,500, and that of the 4 litre six-cylinder Prado ranges from QR138,000 to QR206,000.
TMC general manager (Middle East and South West Asia Marketing Department) Hideo Suzuki, and AAB sales and marketing manager R K Vel Murugan were also present at the pre-launch event.
