Sports Reporter Doha: A 71st minute strike by Fabio Cesar gave Umm Salal a 1-0 victory over Al Khor in the Qatar Stars League yesterday. The victory took Umm Salal to the eighth position in the tournament which is being led by Al Sadd with 16 points from six matches. Umm Salal, concentrating most of their energies on the Asian Champions League where they were beaten in the semifinals, had made a lacklustre start to their Qatar Stars League campaign, suffering two defeats in their first four matches. However, yesterday’s victory took their tally to sevenpoints giving them some much-needed confidence as they once again aim for a decent finish. Al Gharafa are in second position with 14 points from six matches, having won four and drawn two. Unbeaten so far, Al Gharafa will take on Al Khuraitiat today while Al Sadd take on Al Rayyan in what could be an explosive encounter. Al Rayyan are seventh on the league table with eight points from six matches. |
