A round of official talks was held between HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday at the Presidential Palace in Tehran.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
The talks were attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and the members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir.
On the Iranian side, the talks were attended by Iran’s First Deputy President Mohamed Reza Rahimi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki, Minister of Economy and Finance Hosseini, Iranian Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari and Adviser to the Iranian President Iran Mohamed Aliabadi.
After the talks, the Emir attended a luncheon banquet hosted by the Iranian President in his honour.
Earlier, the Emir was accorded an official welcome ceremony upon arrival at the Presidential Palace.
Later yesterday, the Emir met Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the presence of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Talks during the meeting dealt with ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Emir also held a separate meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. During the meeting, the Emir and Mottaki reviewed the relations between the two countries.
HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani attended the meeting.
The Emir left Tehran yesterday evening after a one-day working visit to Iran.
HH the Emir and the accompanying delegation were seen off on departure at the Mehrabad International Airport by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, and Charge d’ Affaires of Qatar embassy in Tehran Mohamed Hussein Zainel.
