Deputy Prime Minister HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah yesterday inaugurated the Second Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference at the Doha Exhibition Centre. Several equipment extensively used in the civil defence, military and safety operations are displayed at the three-day exhibition, patronised by the Ministry of Interior and Administration of Civil Defence. Among the equipment are military vehicles, fire engines, telescopic ladders and water tankers. Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC), Qatar Fuel, Qatari Industrial Equipment Company, Qatari Diar, Barwa, United Development Company, General Directorate of Dubai Civil Defence and Public Works Authority are among the participants at the exhibition. International companies too have set up pavilions. Some sessions on safety awareness are also being held as part of the exhibition. Chairman of the organising committee Brigadier Abdullah bin Mohamed al-Sowaidi said the General Directorate of the Civil Defence was keen to host the exhibition in order to embody the principles of co-operation and partnership with public and private sectors in the implementation of requirements of prevention and safety in all facilities. The Civil Defence, Brigadier Abdullah bin Mohamed al-Sowaidi said, is responsible for the protection of workers in particular. No licence for industrial or commercial activity is given without the approval of the civil defence, he said. |
