Qatar witnessing all-round progress, says Al-Kholeifi |
Doha: HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Kholeifi addressing the inaugural session of the 38th session of the council, said Qatar is witnessing a comprehensive developmental renaissance covering all facets of life. “At present our country is still witnessing modernisation of its basic infrastructure and an ongoing comprehensive development of general services. “Our economy has achieved unprecedented growth, due to stability and extensive investments including the opening of South Hook to receive the liquefied natural Qatari gas in the United Kingdom, and the inauguration of the Adriatic plant for liquefied gas in Italy, as well as the inauguration of line six at RasGas in Qatar,” the Advisory Council speaker said. He added that the country has taken tangible strides in the development of education. A great share of redevelopment was made in the field of health, as manifested in the great care accorded to all health sectors, he said. The speaker of the Advisory Council hoped that the 30th summit of the leaders of the GCC member states “will bolster the mechanisms of integration between our countries and will fulfil the aspirations and dreams of the Gulf citizens”. Al-Kholeifi said, “Our country hosted a number of conferences and dialogues for defusing regional tensions and exerted great efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Arab region. Qatar’s success in achieving consensus among the Lebanese set an example to be emulated. Qatar is exerting the same efforts to solve the Darfur crisis.” On behalf of the Advisory Council, the speaker strongly condemned the expansionist policy of Israel, its attempt to Judaise Jerusalem city and demolish the Al Aqsa Mosque. He called upon the international community to exert pressure on Israel to adhere to international laws and end its occupation of Palestinian and Arab land and to withdraw to the borders prior to June 5th 1967. In this regard, the Advisory Council’s speaker praised the Emir’s solid stance in support of Palestinians and their just causes. On Iraq, he aspired for the day on which Iraqi people will be given full sovereignty by the withdrawal of all foreign troops from its land. The speaker renewed the council’s allegiance and loyalty to HH the Emir “the guide and patron of our blessed march towards comprehensive renaissance”, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation of the Emir’s continuous support to the council. - QNA |
