Alnoor Holdings chairman Ahmed al-Hashemi, Islamic scholar Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi and film producer Barrie Osborne at a press conference in Doha yesterday. Osborne, producer of blockbusters such as The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and Face/Off, is to produce an epic on the life of the Prophet Muhammad, at a cost of more than QR500mn. The English-language film, with an initial budget of $150mn, is being financed by private investors and the Alnoor Fund, part of the Qatar-based media entertainment company Alnoor Holdings, which was officially launched over the weekend.
