The so-called National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was promulgated for Benazir Bhutto, not (her husband and now widower) Asif Zardari, former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf was quoted as saying yesterday.
Talking to local newspaper editors in New York, Musharraf emphasised the NRO was only meant for former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, so that she could return home from exile, adding, “Not I, but the parliament elected Zardari as president”.
