Sports Reporter Doha: Salam International have signed an agreement with the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVBA) to become the silver sponsor of the forthcoming FIVB Men’s Club World Volleyball Championship to be held in Doha from November 3-8. Addressing reporters at the QVBA conference hall, Magdy El-Damarawy, personnel manager, Salam International, said his company takes pride in the strong relationship it has forged with the Qatar volleyball association led by its president Dr Abdullah al-Mal. “We are happy with the invitation of the QVBA president to sponsor this event and extend our best wishes to the organising committee as well as the Al Arabi Club which is participating in the tournament,” he said. “Our company has supported many of the state initiatives in the past and we consider it our national duty to actively participate in the comprehensive development of Qatar at all levels under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and His Highness the Heir Apparent and Qatar Olympic Committee chairman Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.,” he added. El-Damarawy also extended his company’s best wishes to His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, who is leading the Qatar 2022 World Cup Bid Committee. As many as eight top teams from around the world will feature in the men’s club world volleyball competition which will follow an exciting new rule, ‘Volleyball Golden Formula,’ devised by QVBA technical director Hussein Imam Ali. Later, Al Hashemi Group represented by board member and executive director Mohamed Abdullah A M Hashemi also signed an agreement to become a sponsor for the championship. In his address, QVBA general secretary Faraj Muftah al-Abdulla expressed his appreciation with the sponsorship given by Salam International and Al Hashemi Group for the championship. He also hoped more sponsors would come forward to support the event. Al-Abdulla said as part of the arrangements for the championship, a giant screen would be installed outside the venue to cater to the demands of the spectators. The QVBA general secretary also revealed that in appreciation of the support to the championship given by various communities in Qatar, the QVBA would soon conduct a Communities Volleyball League and also disclosed that an FIVB offer to host the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Qatar would be examined. |
