Local artist’s works go on show at Ritz

The Ritz Carlton yesterday opened an exhibition of artworks by local artist Lisa Watson, providing guests with the chance to enjoy works such as ‘Reflections of Doha,’ ‘Cranes of Light,’ ‘Sandstorm,’ and ‘Finding the Way’ in the hotel’s Club Lounge.
Hotel manager Philippe Rubod said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring such an esteemed art exhibition to our guests, and are truly grateful to Lisa for her inspiring work that captures the true essence of the Doha landscape.”
“We are honoured to feature her exhibition and encourage all guests to enjoy the art works as much as we do,” he added.
Hailing from California, Lisa Mounteer Watson has lived abroad for the last 20 years. She majored in Fine Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1980, and moved to Doha last year after living in the UK, Belgiom, Oman and Abu Dhabi.
“Most of these paintings were produced in Doha, where I feel a tenacious vibrant energy, existing now and for generations before,” said Watson, adding, “there is a pioneering spirit here and hope for future prosperity.”
“This seems to be a place where vortex lines meet and greet, even going so far as the link to the cranes, a constant reminder of growth and progress, especially poignant against the backdrop of azure seas, ancient ochre walls, and elegant, hospitable Qatari’s in their flowing garments,” she added.
Lisa has sold paintings all over the world, and all her paintings on show are available to buy.
