President Barack Obama will host Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah at the White House tomorrow, a US spokesman said.
“The president and the emir will meet in the Oval Office. They will then have lunch together, joined by the vice president (Joe Biden),” spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Friday. “The president looks forward to consulting with the emir on deepening our partnership on bilateral and regional issues such as the pursuit of a comprehensive peace in the Middle East, including moving forward with the Arab Peace Initiative.”
The meeting comes after Obama hosted Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on July 23, when the US leader backed Iraqi efforts to lift the burden of UN sanctions slapped on the country after Saddam Hussain’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait. |
