A severe dust storm hit Qatar yesterday bringing visibility below 1km. According to the Met department dusty conditions will continue for the whole day today. A weather official attributed the conditions to the formation of a low-pressure belt across the country and high-pressure belt over north-eastern Saudi Arabia. The wind has moved northwards from Kuwait and Iraq in the past 24 hours, the Met office said. The visibility is expected to remain lower throughout the country today and dusty conditions will subside early tomorrow, the official said. Most Doha areas experienced poor visibility, especially in the afternoon. From Qatar the dust storm will move on to the UAE. Although the maximum temperature will fall marginally, the general temperature will remain unchanged in the Gulf region.
