By Sarmad Qazi

Eleven students from various Qatar-based universities have successfully participated in ExxonMobil summer internship programme.
The programme is part of the company’s social responsibility policy and reflects its continued support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, a spokesperson said.
Students are recruited from various majors, including engineering, public affairs, business administration, finance and law, while talented Qataris have also been recruited through the internship programme.
“At ExxonMobil Qatar, we are hiring, training and developing Qataris for key engineering and managerial roles,” said ExxonMobil Qatar president and general manager Alex Dodds.
The students are from Qatar University, Georgetown University, Texas A&M and several other universities.
“An internship typically lasts one month, with possibility for extension and even scholarship. The internship is mutually beneficial for both ExxonMobil and the students.
“The company benefits from the innovative minds of its interns and gives the most promising ones the opportunity for future employment,” the official added.
“The students are able to experience the workplace firsthand in a professional and demanding environment, allowing them to contribute on meaningful projects and at the same time learn more about the energy sector,” human resources manager Ernie Richter said.
The internship programme also requires the students to attend educational seminars, the last of which was the career development workshop.
As part of the exercise, the students visited the Ras Laffan Industrial City.
