A concert featuring Gayatri Asokan and Raghuram Krishnan delighted Indian ghazal fans last weekend.
The three-hour show Sopanam 2009, held at the Indian Cultural Centre, was organised by Samanvayam, a forum affiliated to the ICC. About 500 invited members attended.
The concert also featured Prakasan Ulleri on harmonium, Mahesh Moni on tabla and Prakash Krishnan on guitar.
Junior members of Samanvayam gave a dazzling dance performance choreographed by Kalamandalam Sini and Venu Menon.
Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa was the chief guest.
Indian Community Benevolent Fund (ICBF) president Dr Mohan Thomas, Doha Bank CEO R Seetharaman and ICC president K M Varghese were among the guests of honour.
Wadhwa handed over a contribution from Samanvayam to the ICBF president. Forum president Manoj Pillai welcomed the gathering. Hari Raghavan compered. |
