By Arvind Nair Samanvayam, a socio-cultural body of Indian expatriates, is to organise a music concert tomorrow, at Indian Cultural Centre (ICC). Classical singers Gayatri Asokan and Raghuram Krishnan will perform at the show scheduled to start at 6.30pm. Whether it is ghazal, Hindustani classical or film music, Gayatri Asokan has sung them all. Trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, Her first break was singing for the movie Araynnangalude Veedu, a duet with maestro K J Yesudas. She has also recorded film songs for Ilayaraja, Vidyasagar, Ousepachan, Johnson, Ramesh Narayan, and Deepak Dev. She won the Kerala state award for the best playback singer in 2003 for the song “Ente Nee Kanna…” in the film Sasneham Sumitra. An orchestra comprising of Prakash Ulleri on the keyboard, Mahesh Mony on the tabla and Prakash Krishnan on the guitar is accompanying the artistes. They will sing popular Ghazals as well as Malayalam and Hindi melodies. |
