By Pratap John Vodafone Qatar will connect 900 commercial customers to its network on March 16. The first 100 users were hooked onto the network yesterday. These customers are from the 1,000 selected by Vodafone Qatar through a special promotion launched in the middle of last month. All the 1,000 launch customers of Vodafone Qatar will be eligible for QR700 worth of value for national calls and SMS for just QR70. Calls will be charged at Dh55 a minute and SMS at Dh40 each during the two-month promotion. The country’s second mobile operator turned on its network on March 1. Vodafone Qatar chief executive Grahame Maher told Gulf Times yesterday that the feedback from the first 100 users is “excellent”. Initially, customers would only be able to make calls and send text messages to local numbers. However, full-scale service will be available to customers in the coming weeks. Maher said that he is looking at the July/August period to make the network “commercially active”. |
