Marwan Al Shaqab continued his dominance of the Arabian breeding industry as the two-time world champion recently claimed the title as leading sire of champions at the United States National Championships. Owned by Al Shaqab, member of the Qatar Foundation, the title marked the first time that Marwan Al Shaqab has led the US as the top sire of champions. In addition, the son of Al Shaqab stallion Gazal Al Shaqab, was also named as the leading sweepstakes sire for the third consecutive year. As the world’s top stallion, Marwan Al Shaqab was represented by offspring that earned seven separate titles during the show. His father, Gazal Al Shaqab, produced three offspring that earned titles. Born and raised in Qatar, the eight-year-old Marwan Al Shaqab completed his training in Geel, Belgium for his attempt to gain his third World Championship and first title as Senior Stallion champion. The World Arabian Horse Championships will be held this weekend, December 12– 14. In addition to Marwan Al Shaqab’s quest for a third World Championship, Al Shaqab and Qatar will also be represented by Abha Myra, a striking daughter of Marwan. She will be attempting to cap off a stellar 2008 campaign with the title of World Champion Senior Mare. Her achievements this season include, Sarjah Reserve Champion, Towerlands Champion and All Nations Cup Reserve Champion. |
