MOHAMED Yousuf Alanany, popularly known as Mohamed Yousuf, a senior photographer with Gulf Times/Arrayah died of a heart attack in Doha yesterday. He was 51. A native of Cairo, Yousuf had joined the newspapers in the early ’90s. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter. Before joining Gulf Times in 1993, Yousuf had worked in Akbar-al-Alyom and Al-Ahram newspapers in Egypt. An experienced lensman and widely travelled man, Yousuf had covered a number of international sport events, in a number of countries, including two Asian Games in Busan and Doha. He had also covered two editions of the Asian Football Confederation Championships among others. Last year, Yousuf won the best sports photographer award instituted by Alkhaz Sports channel. Arrangements are being made to send his body to Egypt today.
