New tie-up to spread green message as Clean Qatar campaign continues

Staff Reporter
GREEN Qatar Centre, the state-owned agency for spreading the country’s green cover, and qatarcsr.com, a leading Arab webpage specialising in social responsibility, have signed a co-operation agreement for motivating and promoting the importance of clean environment.
The agreement aims to spread the awareness and education of social responsibility in the society, and to enhance the role of individuals and organisations in preserving nature and clean environment.
qatarcsr.com will be the official media sponsor of all the activities of Green Qatar Centre. It will take part in promoting the news and functions of the centre, as well as managing information campaigns about the importance of environment in our lives.
“This agreement shows the care of Green Qatar Centre in protecting the nature and developing its contents, as well as fighting pollution according to international standards,” said Green Qatar Centre manager Abdullah Mohamed al-Kuwari.
“We will work with qatarcsr.com to promote the values of clean environment and to preserve the resources of our country for the next generation and to achieve the sustainable development we are looking for.
Under the agreement, both sides will exchange expertise in social responsibility programmes, and adopt common functions and events, as well as prepare studies needed for the work.
More meetings between both parties will be held to organise workshops and training sessions, in addition to publishing necessary leaflets and books related to the subject.
qatarcsr.com will organise all the media and information issues, and will work with Green Qatar Centre to establish a wide database about environment in Qatar.
qatarcsr.com said that this agreement would give environmental issues more attention, as Green Qatar Centre is a leading centre in the state and in the region for protecting green areas, trees and parks.
Meanwhile, a number of schools and companies, including the Bangladesh MHM School, the MES Indian School, the Kainat Foundation and Halliburton have booked slots in the ongoing ‘Clean and Green Qatar’ campaign.
Community coordinator Haji Abdullah Kutty said because of a dusty haze in the atmosphere, some slots are being rescheduled.
According to him, the activities are finally picking up with a lot of agencies showing interest to take part in cleaning beaches and other areas. The campaign has been extended until the end of this month.
