Staff Reporter QATAR won the coveted trophy for the best invention, besides two gold and two silver medals, for entries submitted to the First International Exhibition for Inventions organised by the Geneva International Exhibition for Inventions in Kuwait, a spokesman for the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) said. The QSC delegation to the October 23-26 event comprised QSC general secretary Hasan Abdullah Ahmed al-Abdullah and three members. The delegation submitted five inventions – a camel robot jockey; a model door without a joint; a deaf alert pad; a foot-operated PC mouse and a digital device. The robot jockey won the trophy for the best invention among 45 other entries. As many as 145 entries from 20 countries, including all the Arab and GCC states, had been submitted to the contest. Addressing QSC members and well wishers at a felicitation function for the award winners at the its premises recently, acting president Nasser bin Sad al-Kaby said that the awards won in Kuwait have made Qatar and the Arab world proud. He also thanked Qatar Development Bank board chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud al-Thani for his support in developing the robot jockey. |
