MOWASALAT is to  raise Karwa taxi fares from November 18.
A company official said yesterday that the minimum fare would be raised to QR4 from the current QR3. This amounts to a hike of 33% for the minimum distance of approximately 1.4 to 1.5km.
Those hiring Karwa taxi from the airport will have to pay a minimum fare of QR18 against the present QR10. 
For both normal taxis and airport taxis, after the minimum distance, the passengers need to pay QR1.20 for every additional kilometre.  Currently, it is QR1 for every additional kilometre.
For journeys outside Doha city, the passenger has to pay QR1.80 for every kilometre after the minimum stage.
After 9pm, the fares in Doha city will go up to QR1.80 for every additional kilometre. The same fare will apply outside the city limits too.
