QTEL has launched its new MobileCam service using 3G technology.
The 3G MobileCam is a wireless camera that can be placed at one’s home or office and accessed via 3G video calls from one’s mobile phone from anywhere, anytime. Qtel said the easy-to-use MobileCam would enable customers to enjoy live audio, video and a talkback facility while maintaining complete privacy by entering a security PIN code exclusive to each user.
3G MobileCam works with all postpaid and Hala prepaid SIMs. However, it works better with SIMCam, a new postpaid SIM offered by Qtel.
SIMCam is a special SIM that only accepts 3G video, voice calls and send and receive SMS messages. SIMCam is available at all Qtel shops for QR100 one-off connection fee and QR30 monthly rental.
Qtel customers, both postpaid and prepaid, owning 3G enabled mobiles can make use of the new MobileCam at the normal video calling rates of Dh45/min for postpaid and Dh65/ minute for Hala prepaid customers.
The 3G MobileCam is available at most of the Qtel outlets in addition to Starlink shops.
“Privacy is guaranteed with 3G MobileCam, which only accepts calls from the camera’s owner or main administrator. The owner can also nominate up to 20 users to view the 3G MobileCam. It also enables customers to zoom in and out and start recording in addition to a night vision feature that enables it to operate perfectly in the dark.
In order to operate the 3G MobileCam successfully, customers have to make sure they have installed the 3G MobileCam within Qtel’s 3G coverage area. As the camera operates on 3G Video Calls, customers calling the camera also have to be within Qtel’s 3G coverage area.
