MCDONALD’S Qatar has launched its open door programme, inviting the public to take a tour in the kitchen of its restaurants and learn about the high quality standards applied.
Coming as part of McDonalds's food quality campaign launched earlier this year, the new programme enables the public to have a closer look at the ingredients used, the preparation process, and hygiene and safety measures.
“We are proud of the food we serve and this programme demonstrates once again our commitment to quality and transparency,” McDonald’s Qatar managing director Kamal al-Mana said yesterday.
Trained McDonald’s staff will welcome participants to the programme at select restaurants, on specific dates and timing.
“The tour is through different kitchen areas, starting from the back all the way to the front counter, where food is served to customers,” McDonald’s Middle East Development Company’s senior director of operations (Middle East & Africa Group), Matt Abu Nasser explained.
Two to three groups of five persons will be taken on the tour each per day at a restaurant. They will be provided with special aprons and caps.
“Though the visitors are not allowed to touch anything, they would learn that McDonald’s uses only the best and purest ingredients, which are handled in the most hygienic and safest manner,” Almana Restaurants & Food Company’s assistant general manager Salinda De Silva said.
“I encourage everyone to take the tour in our kitchen. It is fun and beneficial to all,” urged al-Mana.
AlMana Restaurants & Food Company’s operations manager Ahmed Modhi al-Mohamed and marketing supervisor Roland Arugay were also present at the launch event.
